Unequal food distribution is a case where there are uneven distribution of food in the global populations. Some of the people have a problem with obesity while in the other of the world people are suffering because they don’t have enough food too eat which cause hunger in a certain area or region. There are still a lot of country that are suffering because of hunger that caused by the unequal food distribution system to the global populations.
Poverty is one of the main reason that this problem happened. Unequal wealth distribution will be one of the reason why poverty is happening in certain country or regions. The world that we are living today has a problem called misbalanced economy. Certain country is very rich and powerful while another country on the other side of the world suffering because they are poor. When countries like mozambique, guinea, and several countries in africa and asia are suffering, countries like united states, ireland, norway and several countries from europe are rich because of the misbalanced economy which also led to the unequal wealth and food distribution system that caused a lot of hunger.
The economic crisis also become one of the reason that cause unequal food distribution. The economic crisis led to the rising of the food prices which the poor countries or poor people couldn’t afford it and the main result will always be hunger.
There are a lot of countries that suffers from hunger because of unequal distribution caused by a lot of reasons above. One of the nearest example is Indonesia. As a big country with a huge amount of populations (number 4 in the world according to U.S census bureau) Indonesia is one of the real example that facing this unequal food distribution. Beside the huge amount of populations, Indonesia also facing a problem because of there are a lot of big and small islands far from the central goverment. As a big archipelago state, this is the real problem they need to solve as well. “Due to inefficiencies in distribution systems and persistent poverty a low level of food insecurity exists in the country, particularly amongst rural populations.” (Nuzio,2016) poverty also become one of the biggest problem to Indonesia to distribute the food evenly from the south to the north and also from the west to the east.
“Indonesia’s food security situation has improved considerably over recent decades and the prevalence of malnutrition has decreased significantly. Despite these achievements, 21 million Indonesians – nine per cent of the country’s population – remain undernourished.” (Nunzio,2016) although they have improved a lot in the food security situation the food supply is still uneven due to the demand of large amount of populations all over indonesia.
“improving health, education and family planning; improving the skills of the Indonesian workforce; protecting households from shocks such as volatile food prices through government subsidies and welfare; and focussing government spending and taxes to benefit those who are most vulnerable.” (Haan,2017) those are some of the things that governments doing now. Beside of all those things, indonesian government also change and make a better infrastructure to make it easier to reach rural areas or remote areas.
In my point of view, these kind of countries which are suffering from this problem, first thing they need to change is the even distribution of wealth even to rural areas. After that a big country like Indonesia can build a good infrastructure to make it easier to reach a remote areas. Then, make a good policys on this problem.
